Healthcare In Crisis: Hospital Industry Spent $7.3M Lobbying

The American Hospital Association, which represents 5,000 hospitals and health care systems, spent $7.3 million in the first half of 2007 to lobby the federal government, according to a disclosure form.

The group lobbied on issues related to Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, rural hospitals, access to inpatient care and coverage of uninsured patients, according to the form posted online Tuesday by the Senate's public records office.
