Supporters couldn't get enough signatures.

LANSING -- The effort to put a universal health care initiative on the Michigan ballot this November has failed.
The Healthcare Ballot for Michigan campaign officially ended Friday.
Backers of the proposal say they collected 133,000 signatures for the proposal, but they needed more than 380,000 to get it on the ballot. If it had passed, it would have changed the state constitution and ensured that all state citizens had affordable and comprehensive health care.
Organizers say they had great grass roots support, but they couldn't raise enough money.
