Arizona Healthcare Crisis

Arizona agencies that provide medical care to the homeless and chronic poor are now being overrun by the middle class. According to health care organizations, people who are losing their jobs and benefits have nowhere else to turn.

Ten Arizona foundations organized a fund raising campaign for this month called “The Changing Face Of Poverty.” The ten groups pooled $1.3 million to be matched with money raised in the campaign.

The money will go to groups that provide health care, food, shelter, and emergency help to those in need.

Here in Flagstaff, North Country HealthCare has come up with a plan of their own by having a sliding fee scale. The scale allows people without insurance to pay variable rates based upon their household income and family size.

To qualify, patients are required to bring income verification, identification, household member’s information, and their health care denial letter.
