Pies Delivered To Delegation For Health Care Support

LEWISTON, Maine -- Citizens from across the state of Maine are asking Maine’s congressional delegation to support President Barack Obama’s healthcare reform proposals and the Employee Free Choice Act.

Several groups held mini-rallyies in Augusta, Bangor, Lewiston and Presque Isle on Thursday.

News 8 caught up with the group targeting the Lewiston offices of Sen. Olympia Snowe and Sen. Susan Collins and Rep. Mike Michaud and Rep. Chellie Pingree.

Those involved said they believe that reforming health care and restoring workers’ choice to form a union will help restore the economy.

After meeting with the media, the group delivered blueberry pies to the delegation's offices. As for the purpose of the pies the group said -- "Good jobs and affordable health care are as American as blueberry pie."
