Dan Eggan, a Washington Post Staff writer wrote in an article Tuesday 7-21-09 that Senator Max Baucus ( D- Mont.) sat down at a lavish dinner on May 26th with about 20 donors willing to pony up at least $10,000.00 dollars or more to the Democratic Party Senatorial Campaign Committee. This friendly little dinner included executives of several major insurance companies, hospitals and other health care firms. In another similar piece about the rule of money, big campaign donors got jobs overseeing their buddies on Wall Street.
When is America going to get tired of the real Washington motto, " In bribery we trust?"
When it comes to healthcare, Obama's proposals have been endorsed by associations for Doctors and nurses. The majority of American's want real solutions because the current system is such a pathetic failure. Only our Congress and the media that propagandizes for them think they fool America into believing that a more expensive version of the same old you know what is just what the doctor ordered.
William Kristol, The Weekly Standard editor was telling Republicans now is the time to go for the kill. Michael Steele reading Alex Castellanos cue cards called healthcare Obama's Waterloo. They still pull out the dead and buried boogeyman, oooh Government run healthcare, thinking we will all run scared back to Corporatized healthcare that has done to our heath what Wall Street did to our retirement.
The problem for Michale Steele is that most of America knows that single payer is more effective because it cuts costs by 33% just in savings from administrative costs. In addition in typical Michael Steele fashion, his remarks were long on accusations and pathetically short on substance.
The press, which Chuck Todd of MSNBC accused of creating a fake drama that Obama was struggling on health care also adamantly refuses to do any investigative journalism. They continue to let the lie be promulgated that the Obama plan will ban private insurance for Government healthcare.
In point of fact, private healthcare is so burdensome with administration, at least in part to prevent people from filing claims, that if a real full single payer system were passed, which by the way is nothing more than a funding mechanism, Obama wouldn't have to pass any law to ban private insurance because no one would want it.
Another lie the press fails to debunk is the one about rationed health care. All healthcare regardless of what we have will be rationed in some way. Under the present system that Max Baucus would like to leave in place, healthcare will be rationed by cost. The richer you are the better care you will get.
The problem with this is that doctors will flock to fields where they can treat the rich leaving the rest of us to fend for ourselves. Under single payer healthcare will be rationed by need , as in those with the most severe problems will be treated first just like triage in a hospital.
The Elephant in the room is that the real debate about healthcare is not about anything but the private insurers wanting to keep the gravy train rolling, providing us with the most expensive healtcare on earth but only the 37th best outcomes. Of course they are living high on the hog going out to $10,000.00 dollar a plate dinners where the hog with the apple in his mouth won't be Max Baucus even though it should be. meanwhile 63& of those filing bankruptcy will do so because they can't pay their medical bills.
It is past time to stop talking and put up or shut up. Many of us that Max and the boys are screwing over vote. Enjoy those dinners Max, because what goes around comes around.
