Healthcare in America is at a "critical point" U.S. Rep Kevin Brady (R-The Woodlands) told Silsbee business leaders Friday. The crowd at the Aug. 17 luncheon offered personal insights into healthcare issues they face.
Gathering those insights and identifying the problems is part of Brady's 50 Ideas to Improve Health Care campaign that he hopes will shape into legislation to improve health care across the country.
Rising costs, an increasing number of uninsured and a paperwork system that is "21st century healthcare system plagued by an 18th century bureaucracy," Brady said, are the most obvious problems.
The congressman collected comments from local healthcare providers that ranged from complaints of increased staffing to handle insurance claims that causes clinics to shorten their medical staff to difficulties in getting reimbursed by private insurance, with more than 40 percent of claims unpaid, reported one hospital official.
Share your ideas with Rep. Brady.
